Megan Wilson-De La Mare // Foreign Lands.

The Channel Islands were the only place in the British Empire to be occupied by German forces during the Second World War. Seventy years on the fortifications built during the occupation remain as footprints and remnants on the land. Over time, gradually growing into the landscape, these structures have become fossil-like symbols of the past and a familiarity to Guernsey residents.

This project explores the relationship between the fortifications and their detachment from the land, as well as the evolution of life around these structures, symbolising my own detachment from Guernsey, the place where I was born.
